What is Bai Kai Kung Fu?


Bai Kai chuan Shu is the total sum of knowledge attained by grandmaster Dr. James t parker who has studied intensely the Chinese martial arts for over 40 years. Bai Kai is a combination of traditional pei chuan (northern arts) and nan chuan (southern arts) . Bai Kai is a unique martial arts since it offers such a variety of skills to be attained such as physical fitness, self defense, internal arts for health and peace, weaponry , grappling and full contact fighting skills, competition and performance skills everything and anything that someone wishing to attain from the training of true martial arts can have.

The difference between Bai Kai chuan Shu and other forms of martial arts is the in-depth programs which have been designed to give students an "individual" training experience the key is the approach of the 24 Elements training. Students go through a process first known as the four hits this is the physical ability to strike using various parts of the body, grappling is then implemented using joint locks and pressure points, kicking and footwork is then focused on finally restraining or neutralizing the opponent. The next step is the eight skills this pertains the movement of the body as well as the internal reaction to a negative situation and last are the 12 patterns this is a collection base forms to train the body and mind, promoting balance, stamina, strength, focus, and technique.

Training and Instruction

At Parker Self Defense Studio, all beginners are given instruction in basic stance, punches and kicks. Everyone enrolled is classified as a novice regardless of previous training; and therefore must go through our beginners training which last 8 to 12 weeks. As the student progresses he or she is taught various techniques including defenses against grabs, punches and kicks. He or she learns the locations of vital points of the body and how to use his or her natural weapons to the maximum.
Greater stamina , concentration and coordination are required for those in intermediate class. The student is taught to become proficient in designated "forms" resembling a high energy dance routine within these dance like moves are combinations of defensive and offensive techniques joined together into fluid continuous sequences. The forms become more complex and contain highly skilled techniques which require greater skill, balance and agility. With detailed training , the student learns to defend him or her self against club, Knife or gun. Handling three or more men then becomes a simple task.
A student considered competent by his or her instructor is placed in advanced class. Again he or she is taught higher level skills along with theory and philosophy. Now his or her ability is put to the actual test the student is asked to spar with their fellow students and is required to stop their blow before contact is made. Precision , economy of movement, accuracy become an intricate part of his or her reflexes. Thus a serious student finds that perfection of Bai Kai Kung Fu is a lifetime endeavor.
